Torque is not available for iPhone. Apps in the App Store with “Torque” in their name (e.g. “Torque Pro: OBD2 Car Scanner”) are copycats that often ask for an expensive subscription.
Please choose Car Scanner ELM OBD2 or Infocar above.
-
Install the app: Car Scanner ELM OBD2
Download the app from the Apple App StoreGoogle Play Store. Check the name and icon carefully – there are many copycat apps with subscription traps.
This app or its advanced features are paid (purchase, in-app purchase or subscription). The price is set by the app developer and is not included in the price of the adapter.
BMW and Mini from model year 2008 only: E, F, I series and Mini R series. Not suitable for the G series (e.g. G01, G20, G30) or the U series.
-
Plug the adapter into the OBD2 port.
The 16-pin port is usually in the driver’s footwell, below the steering wheel – sometimes behind a small cover or in the centre console. As soon as the adapter is plugged in, the blue LED lights up.
Push it in firmly. The LED sometimes lights up before all contacts are seated. Feel free to press the adapter in a little harder.
-
Switch on the ignition.
The engine does not need to run. For cars with a start button: press the button once or twice without pressing the brake pedal.
-
Turn on Bluetooth – but don’t pair.
Turn on Bluetooth and pair.
Open Settings › Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on. “VEEPEAK” appears under “Other Devices” – please don’t tap it. The app handles the connection.
Already tapped it and saw “not supported” – or VEEPEAK has disappeared? Restart the iPhone once and the adapter will be back.
Open Settings › Bluetooth, search for new devices and pair “VEEPEAK”. PIN if asked: 1234.
It only says “Paired” or “Saved” afterwards? That’s normal. Don’t tap it again – just open the app.
Pairing doesn’t work? Choose “Bluetooth LE” as the connection type in the app – then no pairing is needed.
BimmerCode is sensitive to other wireless connections. Before connecting, please:
- Turn on airplane mode, then turn Bluetooth back on.
- Turn off Wi-Fi.
- Disable CarPlay: Settings › General › CarPlay › select car › “Disable CarPlay”.
- Disconnect the phone in iDrive (COM › Mobile devices › Disconnect device) and end other Bluetooth connections.
- Pair “VEEPEAK” in the Bluetooth settings (PIN 1234). “Paired” instead of “Connected” is normal.
- Do not pair in the iOS Bluetooth settings.
- Keep the phone close to the adapter.
From experienceThis is by far the most common reason when “nothing works”. Restarting the iPhone almost always fixes it.
-
